Worship in the Realms
Humans, being the most prolific of the "civilised" races within the realms, also have the widest variety of powers to which they show varying degrees of loyalty. Unlike most of the other races, who have a single Pantheon of gods, among the races of humans, there are multiple pantheons. Generally, these different pantheons hold sway over different regions of Faerun (see Spheres of Influence map below).
In the Realms, the religion of Mulhorand involves the worship of a family of deities. The religion practised over most of Faerun involves the worship of a collection of powers who are not generally related by blood. The religion practised in Chult is the worship of only two deities and a collection of ancestral, place, and animal spirits, along with a regard for the force of nature. The philosophy of the Shining Lands of Durpar, Var the Golden, and Estagund sees all things in the world as connected and part of a single creation spirit, the Adama or the One; all the many powers of the Realms are different aspects cf the One, and consequently the Shining Lands are some of the most religiously tolerant in the Realms, with literally all deities being reverenced here (all though the Faeranian pantheon holds the Shining Lands within its sphere of influence). All of these religions involve the worship of multiple powers within a pantheon, although not necessarily multiple pantheons. This is the normal state of affairs in the Realms.
The main Pantheons are as follows:
| Celestial Beurocracy of Kara-Tur | |
| Chultian Pantheon | |
| Faerunian Pantheon | |
| Maztican Pantheon | |
| Mulhorandi Pantheon | |
| Zakharan Pantheon |
Within any pantheon, the gods also have a sort of ranking - some of them are "Greater Powers, some Intermediate, some Lesser, and some merely demi-powers.
Some of the same powers appear, perhaps by different names, in different Pantheons.
