Part of the discussion on the morning when Merrell showed everyone what he had done with the broach and ripped it out of his chest.

You mean 'get wounded the most?'" Serena comments dryly. "That cannot be denied."

"You can have my straw, Luc. You really do need the cursed thing more than any of us." Serena places her hand on his forearm. "You need something to keep you safe," she adds tenderly.

Serena starts and looks quickly around at the group as she hastily withdraws her hand. "It's true! In any given battle, Luc is always the one most heavily wounded."

"Until he gets better at defending himself," she adds, with a sly grin and a nudge to Luc's ribs, "I vote that he should wear the evil brooch. Anyway," she continues cheerfully, "the cursed thing might turn him into a brainless zombie, but since he's halfway there already, it won't be much of a loss!"

Holding the broach tentatively over his bare chest, Lucretia moves it this way and that for a moment, as he guesses where his heart is.

Steeling himself, he looks at the sharp metal pin on the rear of the broach, wondering just how he would get it done up once it had pierced his skin. Wincing, he starts to push the pin through his skin, and then stifles a cry as the broach almost seems to jerk out of his fingers, burying it's pin deeply into his flesh. Intense pain goes through his chest, and he wobbles for a moment feeling faint, before recovering his composure and wondering what the hell he had just got himself into. A trickle of blood runs down his chest. (OOC: 1 hp damage).

The blood is mopped up and the wound soon stops oozing. Lucretia tries hard, using Serena's "lipstick" to disguise it, but eventually concedes that simply covering it with cloth maybe the easiest way.
