Blondung frowns at Lucretia as the warrior doesn't let go of the pouch, and instead bends, placing Vaslin's form back onto the floor. The warrior pulls open the draw strings of the pouch, and tips it onto his other hand. As the broach touches his skin, it lays there for a few seconds, doing nothing, then suddenly, it writhes in his hand, flipping over with the pin driving itself into his flesh. Luc yells, shaking his hand to try to drop the broach, but it fastens itself too securely into his flesh.

As pain rips through his hand, Lucretia tries to pull it free with his other hand, but it seems slippery to his fingers, and he can't get a grip. If anything, the broach seems to wriggle, embedding it further into the flesh of his hand.

The flesh around the broach starts to wither somewhat, and take on a greyish ancient look, which soon spreads to cover his whole hand. Gripping his wrist with his other hand, he looks on in horror as the process spreads quickly down his wrist, disappearing under his armour. Lucretia collapses to his knees, suddenly short of breath, kneeling just in front of Vaslin. At his neck, the grey colour starts to appear, and within moments, his other hand has also been transformed into a withered ancient looking thing, the flesh pulled taut and pale looking over withered muscles.

As the others look on in horror, Lucretia doubles over, finding himself looking almost directly into Vaslin's face. To Lucretia's further horror, Vaslin's eyes suddenly flick open, and within them is a burning light. "Thankssss...." croaks Vaslin, though her voice is that of Torus, not Vaslin.

Vaslin/Torus or whatever she has become suddenly thrusts her arm up, gripping Lucretia by the throat. Lucretia gasps for breath and shudders, and Vaslin/Torus seems to visibly swell as the warrior's life force flows into her/it.

The others finally come out of their shock, and start to react. Yvandel is the first. "Quick! Kill them both!!!!" he screams in mad panic.

Larz wrestles to get his holy symbol out, sure that he would need to turn something.

Blondung smiles, and reaches into his coat pocket. He pulls out a small book no one had seen before, and starts to thumb through it. Reaching a certain page, he tips his head back and laughs, a sound strangely eerie and unnerving. "It is but the first!" he says cryptically, "Of the fourth no less..." Laughing now like a mad man, he starts to skip down the corridor, disappearing into the mist... His laughter can be heard echoing for some time...

Milo looks on in horror at Luc's sudden transformation, and he quickly
considers his next action. Somewhat indecisive, Yvandel's words spur him to
action, and he steps in, prepared to bash in something's skull with his
staff.

Strangely though, Blondung's words echo in his mind. Suddenly, realization
comes to the priest, and he decides exactly what he must do. Forcing the
his staff in between the now tightly coupled Torus/Vaslin and Lucretia, Milo
leaves it there and steps back...

"Back off everyone.. this evil must be destroyed at any cost!"

Without much of a pause, Milo called out loudly...

"Enjoy more Longsaddle Beef!!"

Then the priest too laughed a strange laugh. Oddly, its not unlike
Blondung's departing laughter.

OOC: I have added my parts to the puzzle...I'm sure Luc is fairly helpless at the moment but these are his thoughts and attempted actions.

> As the broach touches his skin, it lays there for a few seconds, doing nothing,

"See nothing to fear!"

Then suddenly, it writhes in his hand, flipping over with the pin driving itself into his flesh. Luc yells, "CRAP" shaking his hand to try to drop the broach, but it fastens itself too securely into his flesh.

<Ok that was a mistake, he thinks as his body starts to drain....he then tries desperately to escape the undead Vaslin's grasp.>

Herod watches in shock as Luc actually disregards all warning about the broach and drops it into his hand. ‘You stupid warrior’ Herod thinks to himself. “Why can’t you every think anything through before acting.”

IF Herod can get close to Luc before Torus/Vaslin can drain too much life force from Luc, Herod will try and use his battle axe to remove Luc’s hand that the pin is in.

IF Herod cannot get close enough, he will grab his holy symbol in hopes that Tempus can help with this creature. “Tempus smite this vile undead creature before it destroys your humble servant.” He will keep his battle axe ready in his other hand in case his prayer goes unanswered (or is not powerful enough).

The dwarf actually thought the broach would have helped. But the
sudden turn of events dried his throat and he ached for a long
draught of ale, strong ale.

<snip>
The others finally come out of their shock, and start to react.
Yvandel is the first. "Quick! Kill them both!!!!" he screams in mad
panic.

<snip>
The moment of indecision ends with Ynandel's shout. Dorn lifted his
axe and tried to cut off Vaslin's arm holding Luc's
throat. "Clangeddin help us."

Cleo looks on in motionless horror as the greyness spreads over Luc. "no....no...." she whimpers as she watches.

As Vaslin's eyes flicker open with evil malevolence and Blondung recites his cryptic words and runs off, Cleo slowly steps backward toward the tunnel, too stunned to think clearly.

(ooc - I had posted earlier that Cleo walked over to Merrell's side) Almost half-heartedly, Cleo draws her sword, knowing that it was capable of dealing with Torus - if indeed that was who Vaslin now was. Clutching Merrel's arm with her shield hand, Cleo pulls him back a few feet away from Luc and Vaslin. Looking at his urgently, Cleo asks quickly, almost nervously, "What do I do?!? This sword will detroy Torus, back the chances of bringing Vaslin back may also be lost! What do I do?!?"

(ooc - Yes, Cleo is throwing away her initiative this round for the sake of realism, and will only strike if she or Merrell is attacked directly.)

Just a reminder everyone... Milo has already placed his staff between Luc
and Vaslin/Torus and uttered the activation phrase. As a reminder, if the
staff is used without Trolls in the vicinity, it will explode...

Just thought I should mention it...

OOC: Nice one. I actually do remember that staff, but I don't think
Dorn was there. I think you used that staff before you went to
Silverymoon and picked him up. So Dorn wouldn't know that bit of
info. So, I guess Dorn is stuck with his action. Which may be totally
different depending on the outcome of that staff.

Ceely watches in horror as Luc takes the broach into his hand then starts to...change. Making things worse is the sudden opening of Vaslin/torus eyes. Shaking the horror from her thoughts, then:

Gripping her sword in two hands she........

If she has a clear shot whe will attempt to behead the Torus/Vaslin thingy.......

If no clear shot, she will wait until she had one.......

Matthew,

Okay you got this poor sucker, and here I thought not only are we going to lose Vaslin but also Luc. Great one, and here I thought my personal feelings on Blondung finally played out.

I will have to remember that for next year.
