Six Horns general store:

The store seems to stock virtually everything and anything - and hanging on the wall is a shortbow made from polished black wood.

The shopkeeper points it out. "A fine piece of iron wood that is! Made locally you know. For you, only 30 gold, and I'll throw in a quiver of 20 sheaf arrows for only 1 gp more."

Larz enters the Six Horns general store in time to hear. "Let me help you out..." he says, digging out 20 gold crowns and passing them to Serena, "they may not want to buy horses here... after all they breed them! A part exchange maybe!" The dwarf grins, his teeth showing through his beard. "Consider it a loan" he grins again when Serena hesitates at taking the money.

The shopkeeper hands over the bow, quiver and 20 arrows. When Serena mentions trolls and oil, the shop keeper waves her away from the lamp oil. "You don't want that!" he says. "We have some special oil that is just the stuff for combating the 'Everliving Ones'. He rummages around at the back of the store, then returns with a casket. He opens it up, and it has 4 delicate looking flasks within padded recesses. "This stuff bursts into flame on contact with air - it has to be made underwater you know! The flasks are fragile - they are made to be easily broken. Simply throw them at the troll and it will burst into fire when the flask breaks. Just don't break them in your back-pack!" he jokes.

"They are unfortunately quite difficult to make, and hence quite expensive. These will cost you nigh on 10 gold crowns a flask! And I only have 2 caskets of them!" (8 in total)

"I reckon it might be a good idea!" says Larz. "I'll go tell the others and try and raise some more funds from them" he says, before running off.

The shop keeper takes the dented silver goblet and looks at it with a practised eye. "Nice piece. Shame it is dented - not much call for this sort of thing round here though, and I could only give you a fraction of what it is really worth. I could knock 20 gp off your bill for it if you wish..."

The shopkeeper has a look at the medallion. "Strange design. Don't recognise it myself..." He smiles looking up at Lucretia. "Shame the horn is broken" he jokes. He shakes his head as he hands it back to the warrior. "Thanks, but no, I would rather have hard coin".

The man glances at the items, but does not affect any great interest.

The shop keeper shakes his head. "You might do better selling that at the blacksmith."

(OOC: Unless the giant sized silver tankard is also offered, Lucretia will not be able to afford to purchase the greek fire on his own... to save time, I'll say that the shopkeeper also offers 20 gp for it - which means you would be able to afford to purchase 1 casket of greek fire yourself...)

Larz arrives with the coins he has gathered. He offers to pay the shopkeeper for all of the greek fire for "party use".

Balnor haggles the shop keeper down, both he and Merrell walk away with 5 throwing daggers each for 7gp each. (OOC: from their own money)

Larz pays for both caskets of the greek fire, handing over 16 platinum pieces. He passes one casket to Lucretia, who purchases a blanket for 3 sp and then starts to wrap it before packing it in his pack.

Larz holds the other casket temporarily, but scratches his head as he sees Lucretia starting to pack the other. "If we get ambushed, how are you going to get that out of your pack whilst in mid combat?" he asks the big warrior. "Wouldn't it make more sense to get one of the non-fighters to use them? People like us can then protect them with our weapons whilst they get the stuff out?"

Blondung also enters the shop and purchases 5 daggers.

Larz passes the remaining platinum pieces back to Ceely, and then passes the original gold pieces back to each of those who donated.

Jowden Pike's smithy:

He has a variety of weapons and armour for sale, together with the normal stuff you would find at a blacksmiths. When Serena asks him about bows, he smiles. "One of my forge hands makes them in his spare time. Quite nice they are. He isn't here today, but I think the general store has one or two in stock... you might want to try there..."

Lucretia pops into the blacksmith's and offers to sell his now redundant shortsword. Jowden Pike, a typical burly blacksmith, appraises the weapon carefully. "Not bad", he says. "It's seen some use but been well cared for, so still a useful weapon." He peers at the markings. "Made in Neverwinter I see!" He pauses to look up at the range of other weapons he has made himself, then back at the sword in his hands and finally to Lucretia. "I can offer you 3 gold for it" he concludes.

When shown the new weapon, he goes through similar motions. Hefting it in his hands, he nods appreciatively. "This has an enchantment doesn't it?" he asks. Without waiting for an answer, he peers more closely at the markings on the base of the blade. "Hmmmmm" he muses. "Not a mark I recognise. The blade still looks new, but the hilt looks quite old. Perhaps from a Silverymoon smith? Not dwarven made though."

Leaving Longsaddle

Having made ready, the party mount up and make their way out of the village of Longsaddle, this time heading out on a smaller trail to the east.

The innkeeper had waved them off, providing them with some free last minute advice.

"It is a about a 4 day journey to Nesme on the Nesme Road." He had said, laughing a moment. "It may not be on such a well travelled road as the Long Road that passes through here, but it is a much bigger place than this village and the road is pretty good for travel." At the party's sombre faces, he had smiled encouragingly. "I wouldn't worry too much about Trolls - after all, they are usually on the other side of the river Raurin." He had grinned again. "Of course, once you get within a couple of days of the place, you're likely to encounter the "Riders of Nesme" - who patrol the area, keeping watch for barbarians and trolls - trying to make the roads safer."
