Balnor (Currently an NPC and no longer with the party)

Balnor is a very out going person, he is very willing to meet people but very reluctant to let them get close. This is because he is wanted in the city for stealing. He has dodged the town guard for now and is looking to leave town soon but doesn't want to leave alone.

He is a charismatic person, he has green eyes, brown hair, he is 5'8",175lbs and well built. He usually wares bright cloths and always had his Rapier and main-gauche showing swashbuckler style. He doesn't like to kill but some times it just has to be done to get what you need.

Balnor parents were killed when he was very little so he was taken in by an innkeeper who treated him like a slave and would always beat him. When he was 13 he took all the money he could find in the inn and hid away in the city. He took to stealing like he was born to do it. Two weeks before the meeting of the other characters he was seen stealing from a manor house, when he was caught he was in the room of a 17 year old girl. He grabbed her and put his Knife to her throat and used her as a shield to get out of the house. When he got out of the house he threw her into the gutter and ran away. The father of the girl is saying that Balnor raped his daughter and stole from him. Balnor actually never got a chance to steal anything from the house, but is still wanted in the city and is trying to stay low until he gets out of the city. <LINK TO MEMORIES OF THE SCENE> (Only Cleo knows this - she and he were close before the game started).

NOTE: Balnor was originally played by Mike Bellack bellack@surferz.net, but he has unfortunately was dropped as he was unable to commit enough time to the game. Balnor was effectively written out of the game when the party were in Silverymoon - he converted to become an acolyte of Tymora in Silverymoon at the same time that Vaslin joined to "replace" him.

Coelacanth (Ceely) Seasearcher (Deb Bergeron nhrn1@verizon.net)

Ceely’s mother is of the Northmen, as are her two older brothers, Marlin and Shark. A third brother named Draco, who would have been the oldest one died at sea with her step father Seawolf. Her mother, Siren, was mistress to an elven ranger for a year and Ceely and her sister Kelpie were the result. Kelpie works in the taverns, but Ceely fishes the oceans with her brothers. During the off-season, her brothers work the docks and she worked with the Neverwinter Guard, specifically with their dogs, to track down criminals and other vermin.

She has lost a finger and a half on her left hand to a great fish, and bears a great scar from gaffe-fighting with sea raiders on her collarbone.

She stands 5'5" tall, and has eyes the colour of the sea and the sky. Her hair is a mop which has been bleached by the sea to a salty whiteness, but underneath retains a reddish blonde hue.

More recently, she encountered her true elven father again, and spent some time with him learning wood craft and tracking.

NOTE: Lizzie ERATRIANO@aol.com , who originally generated the character, had to drop out of the game, so Ceely was then played well by Robson Leao Robsonl@zaz.com.br , until he too dropped out - without any word - wonder what happened to him! (SEE VASLIN BELOW) Luckily, Mike Mehrwin mmhrwin@gbutler.com (see above)returned, and took the character over. At least for a while, till he dropped out for the third and last time. The current (and most successful) player of Ceely is now Deb Bergeron nhrn1@verizon.net.

Cleo (Dan Fite DFite@cps-satx.com )

Cleo grew up on a farm just outside Neverwinter. Her family is of the Uthgardt barbarians, but has some of the Northern Barbarian mixed in (Great-great-grand father was a Northern Barbarian). They originate for the Black Lion Tribe, but gave up the nomad lifestyle to become farmers before Cleo was born. She's 5'11 and 19 years old, and semi-muscular. Her eyes are a light green (a gift from her Northern ancestor) and her hair a raven black. Her skin is tanned from the open air life.

Her parents are the current owners of the family farm. She is the oldest and was treated accordingly. It wasn't until her mother died in childbirth that she was treated like a woman. Her mother had given birth to a male, and he became the heir to the estate (her brother is only 6 though). Her father though has taught her everything she knows. He never stopped her training on the sword and gave her, her love of animals. One animal in particular is the cat Cleo's mother gave to her right before her death. The cat is as much a part of Cleo as her sword. Stormy, named after a storm cloud, is well-trained and will do mainly anything Cleo asks. The cat never leaves Cleo and not even Cleo asking it to stay will make it stay. It knows how to keep itself out of danger and is a comforting presence for Cleo. Once she was old enough Cleo became the chosen representative from her family to the city. Her father doesn't like the city and her brother isn't old enough. It was there where she met the other adventurers.

NOTE: Eva cltcunicrn@webtv.net , who originally generated the character, was dropped from the game due to poor posting quality. Her successor was Mike Mehrwin mmhrwin@gbutler.com , but he had to drop out of the game (again!), so Cleo was played as an NPC for a while. She has now been successfully taken over by Dan Fite DFite@cps-satx.com

Dorn (Doug Guertin guod0928@yahoo.com)

Dorn of Clan Fireforge, is the distant cousin of Larz. He has spent the last 20 of his 59 years in the city of Silverymoon, working at times with the city guard, and at other times with the family business - stonemasonry. Originally born in the dwarf hold known as Citadel Adbar, he migrated to the city of Silverymoon in an attempt to see more of the world. Since then, he has been somewhat stuck in a rut. When his cousin Larz arrives out of the blue, with a story about the lost dwarven stronghold of Kheizar Dalan, he leaps at the chance to go visit it. (Picture of DORN's AXE)

NOTE: Dorn joined the group in Silverymoon - his player was Jon M. jm@hothousecreations.com Unfortunately, Jon didn't really make the mark, and I had to let him go. After advertising, George borderline_dnd@hotmail.com took on Larz's cousin instead, but unfortunately, a new baby screwed his free time, and he had to drop out - so a new man stood in - Doug Guertin guod0928@yahoo.com.

Herod (Malcolm Green malgreen@yahoo.com )

Born of simple craftspeople, Herod found his initial interests in life in the armoured warriors of Lord Nasher’s army. Upon joining them however, he quickly found his true vocation, which was as an acolyte to Tempus. His choice in career does not fare well for everyone and his family (mother, father, and two brothers) do not believe he should abandon their craft to become a priest of war. They think that he has cast shame and dishonour onto his family, and he wishes to prove himself. Recently initiated as a full Battleguard of Tempus, he has decided to head out into the world to see if he can earn back some honour for his family name.

Herod is 5’6" tall, with long flowing dark black hair, a trimmed black beard, and eyes of the darkest of browns. His weapon of choice is of course the battle axe, as a Battleguard of Tempus, he has more than a touch of warrior inside of him. He feels his true calling is that of the priest however, offering support to those who battle, and has knowledge in the clerical arts of healing.

NOTE: Herod was originally played by "Jared Rastoka" rastokj@alleg.edu who had to drop out of the game because of other commitments. Herod was played for a long while as an NPC, before being taken over by Scott sapodac@d20.co.edu. Due to personal circumstances, Scott has had to drop from the game, and a new player has taken over - Malcolm Green malgreen@yahoo.com

Larz (Darren)

Larz Rankin, son of Harn 'Boldaxe' Rankin and cousin to Dorn 'Ironstone' Rankin of the Fireforge Clan, originally out of Citadel Adbar , cleric of Clangeddin Silverbeard. Larz originally left the dwarf hold of Citadel Adbar to join a trading coster - Battleaxe Transport. He joined the party in Triboar - he had been dropped there by the Battleaxe Transport when they met up with a higher ranking priest and "didn't need him any more". Normally, that sort of thing would not have happened, but the leader of Battleaxe Transport (Gildung Orccleaver) didn't see eye to eye with Larz due to the fact that Larz's eldest brother went off with Gildung's woman. Larz wanted to get to Silverymoon where he had some relations (Dorn). It was also a lot closer to Citadel Adbar - which is where he had been born, and where he ideally wanted to return to to help with the almost constant battle against orcs etc.

NOTE: Larz was originally played by Harold Runic47@aol.com who had to drop out of the game because of other commitments. Larz was played for a long time as an NPC, and then I chose to give him up to Mike Laymon Mike.Laymon@hpidc.com. Unfortunately, he didn't last long at all - despite a promising start, and he reverted to NPC status for a long time. Earlier in 2006, he was given to Eric Daniels daniels.eric@insightbb.com who I knew as a player in a Dragonlance game I played in. Unfortunately, a change in jobs made life difficult for him to post - and he dropped from the game. Now played by Darren on RPOL.

Lucretia ("Joseph W. May Jr" joseph.may@hickam.af.mil )

Lucretia or Luc to his friends had an early childhood marred by tragedy. His family were pioneers in the North country just south on Neverwinter. He was born on the range and until the age of 7 was the son of simple but brave farmers. Around his 7th year his family was attacked by Uthgardt barbarian raiders seeking to turn back the ever-pressing civilised world. He escaped because his parents had hid him under the floorboards of their cottage, and he escaped out a back window as the raiders were leaving. The fate of his parents and baby sister was unknown but assumed to be the worst. His escape good and his home burned to the ground he had only the clothes on his back and the flute that his mother would play for him every night before bed.

Without food or water he traveled aimlessly six days until he found a road (the main route between Waterdeep and Neverwinter), where he passed out from exhaustion. A old adventure and caravan guard named Winston who was the caravan master of a small Three Star Trading Coaster caravan of waterclocks bound for Waterdeep.

Winston nursed the boy back to health with the help of a priest of Tyr in Waterdeep and then returned to Neverwinter to settle down and raise the boy as his own.

Winston taught Lucretia all he knows of about life and fighting with steel. Luc not only became skilled at the sword but with his flute as well. If life would not have blessed him with strong muscles and the constitution of a horse he would have certainly became a very skilled musician. Each night of his life growing up in the shadow of Castle Never he would play a tune for Winston and Winston would tell stories of his adventures and the adventures of a group of Cormyrin Knights called the Nine Blades of Tyr.

After Winston’s passing in early Mirtul, Luc decide to set out on a journey with a group of adventures calling themselves the Unknowns to seek the same adventures of his step father and the Nine Blades of Tyr.

Lucretia worships the God Tyr, the God of justice. Where he is not so sure of the law abiding ways of the faith, he likes to deal justice in his own and sometimes chaotic way.

He stands 5’ 10" tall and is about 183 pounds of rippling muscles. His once golden hair is changing to dirty blonde as he grows older (He tends to keep it cut short so as not to interfere with his vision) and his piercing green and hazel eyes seem to change to brown in the warmer months.

He currently carries a short sword at his side and a bastard sword on his back. He wears splint mail armour and a small buckler on his right arm for protection.

With all the tragedy in Lucretia’s life and with the passing of his mentor Luc has become a very angry young man who can be quick to fly off the handle and this tends to get him and his friends into trouble.

NOTE: Lucretia was originally played by "Ryan" lizardhaver@yahoo.com, who had to drop out of the game because of other commitments. Lucretia was then played by Chris Thorpe lastaria@cableinet.co.uk. for a while, before he too dropped out of the game! Lucretia is now played by Joe May joseph.may@hickam.af.mil and has been successfully for several years now.... though Joe doesn't seem to have made the transition to RPOL successfully, and has by default ended up dropping out :-(

Merrell Greenwood (Mike Brown mike_brown_1@yahoo.com)

APPEARANCE:
Merrell is a black-haired brown-eyed halfelf in his early thirties. He is 5'9" tall and weighs about 130 pounds. One would describe him as handsome physically, although only a few get past his rough exterior (see mental description). His face is finely chiseled, with a small, yet sculpted nose, and ears which show his mixture of race. Merrell is often sporting an unkempt moustache and beard, not as a fashion statement, but due to forgetfulness and attending to what he considers higher priorities. He will periodically shave when he starts to complain about itching.

Another remarkable feature, is his glasses. Though he can get by without them, Merrell uses a pair of spectacles while reading. Since much of his time is spent doing this, they will often become a permanent fixture on his face. While not wearing them, they remain faithfully by his side in a protective case.

All those years of poring over books has had an effect on Merrell. Though he is of medium build, what could have been strong muscles are rather flabby. That is not to say that he is out of shape. In fact, what Merrell lacks in muscle he makes up for in agility. Perhaps the elven half of his blood has contributed to that as well.

PERSONALITY:
Merrell is deeply contemplative. Never taking a situation at face value, he is always looking to sort, order and decipher the world around him. That is what fascinates him so about books. Books written about history can help explain the events of the past, but also the present and future. Books written by leading astronomers, alchemists, inventors and theologians help explain how the world and its deities work and how they can be combined to create. He is interested in many areas, and what ties his diverse interests together is the desire to understand. The fact that he is constantly engrossed in one book or another often gives Merrell the look of being an outcast. Others might call him aloof or cold. He really isn't, it's just that he often loses track of the details, of the petty details, of the world around him (like the people in it). Head in the clouds one might say. Furthermore he is not much of a talker. He observes the world mostly, waiting to speak until he has something poignant to say. (but when h

There is little that will really rile Merrell up. He loves a good intellectual argument, but he never takes an argument past mere intellectual curiosity and will frown upon anyone who does so. He uses such conversations to size people up. Though he is quiet in general, to those he calls 'friend' he is loyal and will share his thoughts and feelings.

It is important to note that Merrell is primarily a scholar. As such, what he has in book knowledge has not qualified him with a good deal of intuition or common-sense. In fact, Merrell will often display a degree of naivety about the world that comes from his rather sheltered childhood and his neglect of the wily side of life. This has been changing as he has been adventuring.

STORY:
Born to Perdon - a minor mage who lived in Cormyr and worked at King Azoun's court - and Syltra an elven herbalist. His childhood was rather uneventful. His father, was constantly involved in politics and books, and Merrell was enlisted early on by his father to help him with his work. Merrell was taught how to read and write at a young age and often helped his father with his research into ancient tomes. He was an avid pupil and always had his head in one book or another. His father was a good man, and his belief in 'the good' and the need to do what is 'right' rubbed off onto his son. The second aspect of his childhood was his mother. She was the sole influence which kept him from a hermetic life. She saw to it that he made what few friends he had (although he never made any that he became attached to).

Although her passion for herbs and healing never rubbed off on her son, she was able to acquaint him with nature - walks through the forest, swimming in the nearby lake, riding.

Merrell respects - not loves - his father. Merrell loves his mother and will smile any time he thinks of her

It was not until he was much older that Merrell truly started to pick up the art of spellcasting. A combination of this new found interest in sorcery, and the notions he picked up from reading old scrolls of adventurers and heroes, piqued Merrell's interest in adventuring. Surely he too could make a valiant contribution to the world. One day , at the age of 26, he bade his father farewell, carried what stuff he might need in a backpack along with some useful books (as well as a couple for reading), and took off to seek his own fortune.

He didn't have far to go to seek adventure. It was during a brief stay in Dagger Falls that he joined with a group of adventurers who were enlisted to find and rescue a Daleland noble who was kidnapped by the Zhentarim. What was supposed to be a small ambush turned into an adventure which tested Merrell's physical and mental prowess beyond anything he had experienced. The group followed the trail to an abandoned tower, and spent weeks infiltrating and exploring the tower only to discover that it was an elaborate ambush designed to delay and 'deal' with them. Barely escaping with their lives, the party regrouped and scoured the land until word of the noble was again found. The noble was to be executed. To make a long story short, the group planned an ambush of there own, retrieving the noble from the dungeon he was kept in and winning some minor degree of fame.

As is wont to happen, the group went their separate ways. Merrell chose to go along with a female druid named Aran whom he had grown attached to. They travelled to Tilverton, where they had heard a story about the tomb of a wizard who died 6 centuries or so earlier. Apparently the mage had had his daughter kidnapped, and had made the contents of his tomb into a prize for whoever found his daughter and returned her alive to the tomb (he believed she was being held in stasis). Before the party found the tomb (a couple of days march up into the Thunder Peaks), they ran into one of the Zhents that they had encountered before. This Zhent was a powerful mage, and although they had not had to confront him directly before, they knew he was bad news. He recognised them, and, for reasons unknown, simply zapped them with a wand of teleport that teleported them both to a random place in the Realms. The world went dark.

Later, Merrell came to in the middle of a barren moor. He found a scrap of cloth on a bush nearby, which he identified as from Aran's robe, and after much frantic searching, he gave up looking and managed to stagger (without encountering anything dangerous) off the moor and onto a north-south road. With snow on the ground, a lack of proper clothing and exhaustion from a day of wading through heather, he was near his end. Luckily, a caravan was passing, and they suggested he stay with them for safety. 2 days later, he reached Triboar with the caravan. He is poor, nearly broke, but has since managed to see a large scale map of the realms, and he now has a fair idea of where he is. The North is all new stuff to him though! Someone in Triboar recognised his description of Aran, and said that they had been in the company of a powerful looking man dressed in white robes and black boots - he assumed a priest or magic user of some sort. He seemed strange and even weird, and was noted as being unusual, since he travelled only with Aran, and headed off northward on the road towards Longsaddle. (The witness did also say that Aran seemed a bit dreamy) Usually people travel in caravans as the roads are not safe to travel except in numbers. Merrell is currently looking for a party to travel northwards and see if he can find Aran. In Longsaddle, he heard something that made him believe that she was being taken to Silverymoon.

In Silverymoon, an investigation by Lady Alustriel discovered that she had had been killed. Merrell was distraught.

NOTE: Merrell was originally played by Michael DiClemente mdicleme@hotmail.com who had to drop out of the game because of other commitments. It was hoped that he would return, but he has been unable to. Merrell was played for a long while as an NPC, but is now played by Mike Brown. mike_brown_1@yahoo.com

Milo Davidston(Phil Jones PHILJ976@aol.com)

Serena Shadoweaver ("Douglas Kullen" archon2001@hotmail.com ) DECEASED

Serena's Shield
When she left Neverwinter at the beginning of the Northern Journey, Serena believed in only using her weapons for defense and in talking things out first. She believed that most problems were caused because people didn't talk things over to discover what their underlying differences were. Her experiences on the journey have shattered this naive outlook. Orc slavers and their insane ogre mage leader are not interested in "talking things over." One has little time to negotiate with a horde of screaming hobgoblins that descend upon your camp in the middle of the night. There is little room for hashing out differences when the evil Lord of the Zhentarium lands his black dragon steed on the road beside you. Serena has learned first-hand from the agents of the Dragon Cult not to be over-friendly with strangers. As a result, she is now leery of strangers -- not quite paranoid, but chastened by experience and more than ready to use her weaponry should the situation arise.

Trained as a fighter in Lord Nasher's army, she is skilled with long sword and battle-axe. In the army, she served for almost a year, but didn’t advance far beyond the level of "recruit." She saw the army as man’s realm -- no place for a fighting-woman. All the cards seemed stacked against her there, so she dropped out, taking with her a sense of army discipline and an unfilled desire to fill a leadership role.

Serena once imagined combat as some sort of "art" – and had even dreamed of fighting one day as a gladiator – but now she has learned that battle is a life-or-death undertaking. While she still practices the stances and dance-like moves she learned in the army, she realizes now that battle is not glamorous or beautiful or fun, but a desperate business where simple mistakes can cost a person their life.

No longer quite so naive, Serena remains a quiet young woman, with long black hair and light green eyes. She has a well-formed body and attractive features, but her comeliness is offset by a somewhat abrasive personality.

She is the daughter of arms merchants in Neverwinter. It was in their shops that she learned the craft of bow making and fletching, and became adept in the use of the short bow.

Serena’s parents pampered their daughter in her youth, insisting that "she could do anything" with her life that she wanted. They were somewhat taken aback when she decided to join the army, but could not refuse her. Relieved that she quit Lord Nasher’s forces, they were still dismayed that she insisted upon wearing armor and carrying a sword around town, acting like a mercenary. After receiving Gaard’s commission, Serena simply told her parents that she was "going on a little trip with some friends," but she did not say where she was headed.

NOTE: Serena was originally played by (Kim archangl@cyberstreet.com ), who had to drop out of the game because of other commitments. Serena was then played by "Luiz Carlos Inacio" luizinacio@uol.com.br Luiz has also since dropped out of the game, and so Serena was finally taken over by Douglas Kullen aka "Archon" archon2001@hotmail.com. Unfortunately, Douglas also eventually dropped out of the game, and eventually, Serena was "killed off" by the halfling Hael - as she slept an enchanted sleep.

Vaslin Riverside (NPC)

Vaslin Riverside of Tymora...acolyte in the service of the Luckpriestess Aratha Sul.

A life long resident of Silverymoon...she is strikingly beautiful and petite. Standing little more then 5 foot and weighing about as much as a plump gnome the young woman could easily pass for a 16-year-old human female. Her slightly pointed ears occasionally poke through her long straight black hair hints at her mixed linage...her long black hair and brown eyes obvious gifts from her human parent have a hint of silver which makes her hair glisten as it moves and give her eyes a soft and beautiful glow...the type of eyes you can not help but make contact with.

Vaslin - or Lucky to select friends - was born to a mixed couple of adventures. Baltic Gondson a Priest of Gond from far off Tilverton and a female elf (Valena) who can best be described as an adventuress. Vaslin's story starts with them...Baltic met Valena when a group of Gondian priests called the Wonderboys enlisted her in a particular quest. Valena quickly became pregnant and Baltic and Valena left the Wonderboys and the quest to return to Tilverton.

While in route the couple was beset by a group of Hobgoblins and were nearly killed. The strain of the encounter and her mother's wounds caused Vaslin to come much earlier then expected. Very premature the small frail Vaslin was born on the riverside a day or so from Silverymoon. Baltic skills in healing were limited...and what he had he used on his beloved wife...as a priest of Gond his abilities were more in line with discoveries for the grater glory of Gond then in the protection or healing areas. The child was sure to die...but as the baby was slipping into darkness and all hope seemed lost, a group of Tymoran priests on some sort of pilgrimage came across the trio and saved the baby's life.

The couple moved to Silverymoon, with the plans to move back to Tiliverton, whenever the baby was fit enough to travel...this however never came to pass as the child always seem to be sick at one time or the other - a problem she still has to this day. Vaslin was lucky to be alive at all, most would say. The Silverymoon order of Tymoran priests took to calling her their good Luck Charm, and eventually shorting it to Lucky. Her father established an alter to Gond in Silverymoon which is so small and out of the way, it is nearly impossible to find. He has succeeded in getting a handful of followers (mostly Gnomes) over the last 35 plus years but his torn conscious between Gond and the Goddess who saved his family have kept the man from reaching his true potential...he has recently turned over the rains to a more in tune Gnomish priest and now spends a majority of his time working with his wife in the family business...he longs for the days of adventure with the Wonderboys.

The Wonderboys have been missing and are presumed dead - another stroke of luck that Tymoran priests contribute to the prodigal Vaslin. Her mother still young for an elf, presides over the family business; "The Key Hole" - a very small lock and chest shop that also sharpens knives and other cutlery. Vaslin, or Lucky, having been brought up with people touching her head for luck had almost no choice but to join the priesthood - truthfully though she knows that she has lived a charmed or lucky life and dedicating her life to lady luck came easy. As for her other abilities, they can be attributed to an inquisitive nature and her mother's dabbling. You can't grow up in a lock shop and not know how to open locks after all. Lucky wears dark leather armor under her gray cloak , her silver holy symbol easily visible on her chest...The only really visible weapon the young woman carries is a simple sling. A particular nasty looking dagger...the long and thin blade obviously well cared for can sometimes be seen poking from her Gray and Crimson knee high boots.

Vaslin joins the "Unknowns" or perhaps now the "Knowns" in Silverymoon. Luckpriestess Aratha Sul has had a vision that sees the party, accompanied by Vaslin, heading north into the depths of the Moonwood. The old Luckpriestess - Shermata Chang, died there when investigating a ruined temple - Aratha's vision showed her and the group traveling there together to complete the mission that Shermata was completing. The other vision that Aratha had was of her helping the Unknowns on their trip to Kheizar Dalan.

NOTE: Vaslin was originally played by Veronica May vpierce98@yahoo.com (Joe's wife) who had to drop out of the game because of other commitments. It was hoped that she would return, but eventually we decided to open up the character to a newcomer. The character was VERY briefly played by Garry O'Brien gdobri@iprimus.com.au, but quickly became an NPC, and eventually died at the hands of the undead Torus in Kheizar Dalan. Her body was returned to Silverymoon, where she was resurrected, and after a stint as an NPC again, was taken over by Robson Leao robson@gfw.serpro.gov.br (one of the early players of Ceely who had dropped out 3 years earlier). Unfortunately, Robson dropped out again with no notice, and for a while, she was an NPC again. She was then taken over by Veronica "Ron" Gutzmer yesiroleplay@yahoo.com (Two Veronica's! Talk about cooincidence!), and was played well by her, till unfortunately, she simply dropped out. (I don't think she liked fumbling a move silently roll). Currently an NPC again.

Yvandel (Duncan)

Yvandel is a boy growing up into a man (OOC 18 going on 19 years old). He's never had any hardship in his life, only joy - at least till he started this adventure.

He's been performing puppet-shows from an early age on. The puppet he uses is a large (from top to toe it's about the size of a man's arm) wooden puppet. The right side of the puppet is colourful enough to bring a smile even to the most stubborn of people (he has a small set of paints to touch it up & keep it fresh). The left side of the puppet lacks any sign of colour and is completely made up out of black and white, sober enough to stop even the most joyful of people from smiling.

The puppet when used, sits on his left or right arm (whichever Yvandel feels like that day), but normally it hangs from his neck, where it contentedly watches the things happening around it.

Yvandel has become quite good at what he does: Ventriloquism. He can create sounds that seem to come straight from the puppets lips. And since he can move the lips of the puppet with his hand, he can create quite a show with his puppet - usually making it seem that the two halves of the puppet are different personalities speaking.

Yvandel was/is still quite naive and his main reason for leaving behind his hometown was that he felt that he had learned all he could from the town of Neverwinter. He wanted to travel and to see if there were more like him, other ventriloquists and entertainers that he could learn from.

His parents were supportive of his hobby, his passion, but as they were poor, they did not have the ability to pay for his travels. Yvandel thus planned to work for his money. His parents made him promise them that he would not travel alone. When he heard that some of his friends/acquaintances had resolved to form an adventuring group to "leave town and see the world" he offered to tag along.

Although he was startled a little at first, seeing them with all their weapons, he was able to bring a smile to their faces with his ready wit and skill with the puppet.

What was a secret to all when he first left Neverwinter, was that Yvandel was also an Illusionist. That is now common knowledge within the party.

Later, when Yvandel reached the frontier town of Nesme, he went to a place called "The Pride of the North", where he performed a show with his puppet. <Here is a link to most of Yvandel's puppet shows>

NOTE: Sebastian Janssen tinygarion@yahoo.com unfortunately had to drop out of the game, and I took over Yvandel as an NPC for a long time. Finally however, I gave in to pressure, and allowed him to be taken over by a new player - Steve Bailey sumo_atribus@yahoo.com stepped up. Steve unfortunately dropped out, mainly when his own campaign folded through player revolt, and Yvandel became an NPC... until he was picked up by Duncan (on RPOL)
